An exciting opportunity has become available for a Specialist Occupational Therapy Technician, working with Swn y Gwynt Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) based at Swn Y Gwynt resource center in Ammanford.You will be integral within the multi disciplinary community and ward OT team and wider service provisions. Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential within the post as you will hold a degree of autonomy across both settings.Main duties of the jobYou would ideally have experience working with clients with serious and enduring mental illness within a therapeutic / rehabilitation role.You will be working as part of an Occupational Therapy team to deliver planned Occupational Therapy interventions, to support an individual's rehabilitation and recovery, utilising technical skills through activity.You will be working under the supervision and guidance of a qualified Occupational Therapist.This will include delivering one to one and group interventions within community settings, which are evidenced based and aim to promote an individual's independence and psychological well being.You would either have completed the Occupational Therapy Support Worker Diploma or be working towards completion.   • An interest in / practical knowledge of a range of technical and practical skills

Qualifications and KnowledgeEssential
  • Numeracy and literacy to minimum GCSE level
  • Level 4 in a relevant health and social care discipline or equivalent experience
  • Ability and willingness to complete the Level 4 OT Support Worker Diploma
  • Knowledge of Occupational Therapy principles and grading / task analysis to improve function
  • Knowledge of leisure, creative and technical skills and its application within one to one and group interventions
  • Understanding of the roles of other staff groups in health and social care settings
  • Understanding of voluntary sector services
  • IT skills / qualification and competency with software packages

  • All Wales Passports in Moving & Handling and Managing Violence and Aggression.
  • Professional, technical or academic qualifications which relate to clinical Speciality i.e Emotional Coping Skills, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy principles
  • Relevant additional courses to support clinical work i.e. motivational interviewing Solution Focused Therapy
