Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Optometrist to be embedded within our Ophthalmology Department.
The role will provide a range of core and specialist optometric services and extended roles supporting the Ophthalmology clinics.
The successful candidate would work as an autonomous practitioner in accordance with professional & regulatory body guidelines and codes of practice (The College of Optometrists and General Optical Council) and statutory Trust requirements.
Main duties of the job
To participate in planning of services in the department and organisation of posts for more junior optometrists working the department towards post-graduate qualifications.
To support clinical audit, quality improvement and research.
To undertake administrative duties ensuring safe and effective service delivery including patient triage and managing clinical queries from the community.
To contribute to teaching of medical and non-medical staff within the Ophthalmology department.
