Job Description

Polypipe Civils & Green Urbanisation design, develop and manufacture thermoplastic piping systems for civils and infrastructure projects with the industry's widest choice of water management, surface water drainage, sewer and cable protection systems.

The role:

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Specialist Products Operator will be responsible for the running of plastic extrusion lines and the fabrication of plastic drainage products.

Working hours:

This is working 4 on 4 off covering 2 days & 2 nights, 12 hour shifts.

Key Accountabilities:

The efficient and safe running of plastic extrusion and compounding machines - blending machine operation and manual tasks. The fabrication of drainage products using various power tools (extrusion welding guns, jigsaws, grinders etc) - involving some manual handling and work at height. To maintain high quality standards, whilst meeting agreed targets safely and efficiently. Control all waste and create ideas which reduce scrap levels to agreed targets. Assist the team with writing Risk assessments, SSoWs, ensuring process documentation is maintained at all times. Maintain an effective level of communication at all times across all shifts and with support functions. Any additional activities as directed by any Polypipe supervision or managerial staff.

The person:

Excellent communication skills. Ability to read and understand technical drawings. Preferably previous experience of undertaking fabrication tasks. Previous experience within the manufacturing industry. Previous work experience using hand/power tools. Good attention to detail and an organised approach to work. Proven ability to achieve against performance measures or KPIs. Have a flexible approach to all activities and be able to demonstrate that you can work effectively both on your own, and with others in a team environment. Preferably previous involvement in continuous improvement initiatives. Valid FLT Licence would be advantageous but is not essential for the role
