Job Description

4myschools is looking for an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist EYFS/Key Stage One unit within a welcoming primary school in Bury St Edmunds. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate and dedicated individual to make a real difference in the lives of children with a range of special educational needs. The role is full-time and long-term, with the potential to become permanent.

The unit is set in a purpose-built facility nestled in woodland on the school grounds, creating a calm and nurturing environment for pupils. It includes an accessible toilet, sensory room, group rooms, an allotment, and access to the main school facilities. Children benefit from small class sizes and a multi-sensory curriculum designed to encourage exploration and independence. Direct teaching linked to individual needs takes place alongside themed learning based on pupils' interests. The dedicated team includes teachers, HLTAs, teaching assistants, and Thrive practitioners, and works closely with external agencies such as speech and language therapists, social care, and nursing teams.

Essential Skills and Experience



To be successful in this role, you will need previous experience working with children with SEND and a strong understanding of strategies to support pupils with diverse needs. You should be patient, empathetic, and committed to helping children thrive, as well as flexible and creative in supporting a multi-sensory curriculum. Requirements



Right to work in the UK A genuine passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one). A minimum of GCSE Maths and English at grade 4 (C)
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Temporary, Fixed term contract, Temp to perm
Contract length: 7 months

Pay: 17,160.00-19,110.00 per year

Expected hours: 32.5 per week

Work Location: In person
