We are inviting applications for the Specialty Doctor role which has become available in our Adult Inpatient Ward in Woodlands, Ipswich, Suffolk.This is a 1.0 WTE Specialty Doctor post working on Avocet Ward, Woodlands, Ipswich, in the General Adult Pathway in East Suffolk Services.Woodlands is a purpose-built psychiatric unit opened in July 2011 on the Ipswich General Hospital site, catering for the acutely unwell for whom community treatment is not currently appropriate.Avocet Ward provides care for women over the age of 18 years old who are either in hospital informally or detained under the Mental Health Act. It is under the general adult pathway so patients may present with psychosis, mania, depression, personality disorder and various co-morbidities such as mild learning disability and autism.The post is part of our East Suffolk Care group which has the best ratings in NSFT for Medical engagement and above average from National Standards. Our medical workforce is actively involved and leads on all service developments locally.Main duties of the jobThe post holder will undertake clinical management of patients seen within Avocet Ward, at the level as is appropriate for a Specialty Doctor. This would include diagnostic assessment where required, development of management plans and treatment regimes.They will also provide medical expertise within the multidisciplinary team, including Junior Doctors, medical students, CPNs, Psychologists and Social Workers in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of referred patients take part in team meetings, supervision, and the development of the team.The post holder will provide support and advice to their non--medical colleagues working in the inpatient team (and outside of the unit), when appropriate.The duties also include liaison with professional colleagues in primary care, secondary care and other psychiatric teams.About usNorfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust provides child and adult mental health services, learning disability, wellbeing and eating disorder services across Norfolk and Suffolk.We are also offering:
