Specialty Doctor In Haematology

Job Description


We are looking for a specialty doctor who will be based in Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Royal Preston site working alongside a specialty doctor colleague already in post in offices in the haematology laboratory area. They will work with 3 Consultants on site with support from 2 advanced nurse practitioners, 4 clinical nurse specialists and a consultant clinical scientist trainee. We are currently also recruiting a fully trained consultant clinical scientist. There is a collaboration between Blackpool and Preston and the Blackpool team provides a tertiary service to Lancashire and South Cumbria. Intensive treatment of acute leukaemia and autologous stem cell transplantation is undertaken in Blackpool in our JACIE accredited unit for a wider population of 1.6 million people. The appointee would be employed by Blackpool Teaching hospitals NHS Trust but all their work will be at Lancashire Teaching hospitals (LTH) at Royal Preston and to a lesser degree Chorley site.

Main duties of the job

No specific out of hours commitment is required but can be considered in discussion with appointees.

Job responsibilities

The clinical commitments of this post will include responsibility for inpatient, day case and outpatient care of patients with haematological disorders at LTH. The duties also involve liaison with laboratory haematology services.
