Job Overview:
The Spool Yard Supervisor will oversee the operations within a Piping spool yard, which is a storage and distribution area for various materials used within a busy pipework installation project ,they will be responsible for the efficient and safe management of the yard, including the storage, movement, and loading/unloading of materials, as well as the supervision of yard personnel.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervising Yard Operations:
Overseeing daily activities such as receiving, storing, and dispatching materials (Co-ordinating with Material Controller)
Team Management:
Leading and motivating yard staff, ensuring they are working safely and efficiently.
Material Handling:
Ensuring the proper handling and storage of materials, including loading and unloading vehicles.
Inventory Management:
Maintaining accurate records of materials and stock levels.
Safety and Compliance:
Implementing and enforcing safety procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
Equipment Maintenance:
Ensuring the proper maintenance and upkeep of yard equipment.
Communication:
Effectively communicating with other departments, such as production, dispatch, or purchasing.
Problem Solving:
Identifying and resolving issues related to yard operations, such as delays, safety hazards, or inventory discrepancies.
Specific Tasks May Include:
Overseeing Lifting and Moving Tasks
Verifying Delivery Paperwork
Liaising with trade Supervision on planned works
Directing labour on the compiling of work packs
Conducting regular stock checks.
Maintaining a clean and organised yard environment.
Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Skills and Qualifications:
Supervisory Experience: SSSTS (Required), Previous experience in a supervisory role, particularly in a yard or warehouse environment.
Knowledge of Material Handling: Familiarity with proper techniques for handling and storing various materials.
Safety Awareness: Strong understanding of safety procedures and regulations,
Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and resolve issues efficiently.
Physical Fitness: May require physical fitness to perform manual handling tasks
CCNSG or CSCS card
PAYE (NAECI Categorised 2025) Grade 7
Basic rate - 24.66
Rate A - 34.52
Rate B - 44.38
IBA Payment - 2.37/hour
Travel & Accommodation - As per NAECI
