The supervision of the yard and the small team of forklift drivers to ensure a smooth and logical operation on a daily basis.

Guarantee staff compliance with procedures and BRC standards, ensuring the quality, legality, and safety of all products.

Lead and supervise the yard team to complete all tasks efficiently.

Contribute to Health & Safety, Food Safety, and supporting the achievement of ongoing company-wide objectives.

Requirements

You have excellent spoken and written English and good organizational skills, can work well under pressure, and remain calm in busy situations.

You have strong attention to detail, logic, and common sense, can react quickly, take initiative, multitask in a fast-paced environment, and are adaptable and flexible.

You have at least 2 years' experience working in a logistics / yard environment, supervising people, influencing adherence to company procedures, maintaining high customer service standards, and committing to a "right first time" approach.

You have good understanding of yard activities in a busy facility and aren't afraid to get your hands dirty, this is very much a hands-on role based in the yard on a forklift.

A full, in date forklift license is essential, and a teleporter / shunter licence would be advantageous but not essential.

You will be required to work outside in all weather conditions all year round, but a full uniform and PPE is supplied.

You have a basic understanding of food safety, HACCP and quality standards in a yard / warehouse environment.

Duties:

To communicate effectively with the yard team; to cascade key messages, giving clear instructions, be first point of contact including organising and implementing rotas for breaks etc. To ensure safe working environment for staff, ensuring compliance, reporting all breaches of H&S or bad practice to the factory manager Help to process and prepare customer orders - load and unload vehicles using a forklift truck. Following process for reporting unstable, poorly presented freight Checking deliveries and ensuring safe and correct storage Overseeing and maintaining the general cleaning & tidying of the yard Managing premises skips - ensuring that materials are correctly disposed of in appropriate skips and to arrange skip exchanges when required. Expected to put forward ideas for improvements and efficiencies Make sure all aspects of the job are completed before the end of each shift in preparation for the next day, specifically not leaving unidentified or unlabelled goods in the yard. Understanding and capability to use IT systems Manage the flow of vehicles through the yard always keeping queues down to a minimum.
