Job Description

Swimming teacher required at thriving family orientated swim school at various sites across Bristol, Bath & Melksham. Must be reliable, trustworthy and forward thinking. You will have a UKCC Level 2 or ASA Level 2 qualification. However we are willing to support a teacher with a Level 1 qualification and take this into careful consideration.
Overall Purpose of Job:
To be part of the Swim School coaching department responsible for the delivery of the Swimming coaching programme to maximize the opportunities for young swimmers to reach their full potential in line with the swim schools vision and philosophy.
Main Responsibilities / Description of Duties:

  • Provide a high standard coaching to a respective swim stage group, educating them in the in line with the Swim School philosophy.
  • To ensure that all children adhere the swim school values and show a high level of respect and discipline.
  • To adhere to the Coaches Code of Conduct.
  • To assist more advanced swimmers to set individual short and long term goals and to create Individual Action Plans and feedback for all swimmers in termly reports.
  • To develop and maintain a professional relationship with the parents of youngsters in the programme.
  • Complete CPD (Continuous Professional Development) to maintain coaching qualifications.
  • To work with Head of Coaching in the completion of a personal Coach Development Plan in line with the Sport Education Swim School Coach Competency Framework
  • To maintain IOS membership criteria
  • To attend coach in service days as instructed by Swim School Manager / Head of Coaching.
  • To support the development of young swimmers in a healthy lifestyle, diet, drug awareness, education.
  • To take responsibility for the care and maintenance of all swim training equipment and kit.
  • To attend the bi monthly coaches meetings or additional training nights as instructed by the Swim Manager /Head of Coaching.
  • To assess trialists at sessions and feedback to the Lead Coach / Head of Coaching.
  • To assist with sport science input where required at swim training sessions.
  • To attend trips when requested by the swim school.
Experience Qualifications & Training.
Essential:
  • ASA or UKCC Level 2 or working towards.
  • Valid IOS membership
  • Experience of coaching within the relevant age groups
  • Computer skills (in particular Word/ Excel/ Access).
  • High levels of communication skills, both orally and written.
  • Personable and enthusiastic with a strong work ethic.
  • Sensitive to the needs of young swimmers and parents/guardians
  • Willingness to work weekends and evenings.
  • Clean DBS Check
Desirable:
  • Other related NGB Sports qualifications
  • Knowledge and experience of other aquatic disciplines and or various CPD's
  • Proven track record in swimming development.
  • Experience of working as an IOS Coach Educator / Mentor
  • Degree in a related subject
