Job Title:
Sports Coach (Part-Time)
Pay:
15-17 per hour (depending on session type and experience)
Hours:
10-15 hours per week during term time, plus up to 100 additional project hours available between now and August (including Pits to Pitches community programme).
Location:
Various primary schools, youth clubs, and community venues across Barnsley and Wakefield.
Purpose of the Role:
To plan and deliver high-quality sports and physical activity sessions that engage, motivate, and inspire children and young people to be active, confident, and healthy. The role supports school PE delivery, after-school clubs, youth sports provision, and holiday activity clubs.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Deliver structured PE lessons and physical activity sessions in school settings.
Lead after-school sports clubs offering fun, inclusive activities.
Support the delivery of youth club and community sports sessions.
Assist with planning and delivery of holiday activity clubs.
Deliver project-specific sessions as part of the Pits to Pitchescommunity sports programme.
Ensure sessions are safe, well-organised, and inclusive for all participants.
Build positive relationships with children, staff, parents, and community partners.
Set up, pack away, and maintain sports equipment and resources.
Follow safeguarding and child protection policies at all times.
Complete basic session records and feedback as required.
Person Specification:EssentialDesirable
Experience working with children or young people in a school, coaching, or youth setting.Experience delivering PE curriculum sessions.Ability to lead engaging and enjoyable sports activities.Experience working in community sport or holiday club settings.Positive communication skills and ability to motivate young people.Additional sport-specific coaching qualifications.Reliable, professional, and well-organised.First Aid training (or willingness to complete).Willing to travel between venues.Access to own transport.DBS check (or willingness to obtain).
Qualifications:
Minimum of Level 1 Coaching Qualification or equivalent experience (e.g., PE/Sport student or relevant work experience).
Level 2 Coaching Qualification desirable but not essential.
