We are looking for a recently qualified and talented sports graduate who is keen to kick start their career by contributing to our dynamic sports programme. This is a unique opportunity to gain valuable teaching and coaching experience, and be part of an accomplished sports team. The successful candidate will contribute to sporting and co-curricular programmes across the school and coach across a variety of sports, providing cover where necessary, including weekends and evenings for fixtures.
Main duties and responsibilities
To assist with the planning and coaching of sport sessions at the direction of the Director of Sport.
To contribute to the extensive co-curricular programme and all areas of school life.
To assist with Sport events, this will require weekend work to run sports teams or other co-curricular activities.
To be responsible for individual teams on match days and undertake officiating duties as required
Assist the Sports Department with some of the lunchtime and after-school sports clubs and training sessions
To provide mentoring support and constructive feedback to pupils to ensure progress
To take accurate registers at the beginning of each session.
Provide the Sports Department with basic administrative support.
To assist with the organisation on sporting fixtures and trips
Refereeing and umpiring matches as appropriate
To contribute to the sports department by attending department meetings
Monitoring and maintaining health and safety standards. Administering basic first aid to pupils reporting incidents and liaising with the School's Nursing Team (subject to successful completion of First Aid qualification).
Any other duties as required by the Director of Sport.

Essential skills and qualifications
A specialist Sports, PE and/or coaching/teaching qualification.
Good GCSE (or equivalent) qualifications in English Language and Mathematics.
Demonstrate a good level of technical knowledge.
Experience of working with children or young people.
Demonstrate a child-centred, holistic approach to teaching and coaching.
An excellent ability to provide positive and constructive feedback.
A flexible, enthusiastic and energetic attitude, capable of inspiring confidence in pupils and parents.
A positive, can-do approach with all sports.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Excellent organisational skills, experience with administration and a desire to develop professionally.
Good time management and an ability to use time efficiently and effectively.
An excellent ability to work proactively, self-sufficiently and within a team.
An understanding of the nature of independent education and of the high expectations within the sector.
Professionalism and commitment to the demands of a successful co-curricular programme.
Ability and willingness to learn on the job.
Desirable skills and qualifications
A recent graduate qualification in a sports discipline.
A high level of playing and/or coaching experience in football and/or cricket.
Experience and knowledge of strength and conditioning, football and cricket coaching and refereeing / umpiring qualifications
Swimming coaching / lifeguarding experience and qualification.
Emergency First Aid qualification or awareness of Health and Safety and First Aid
Membership of or presence on relevant NGB coaching register.

Hours of work
35 hours per week, Monday to Saturday, to be confirmed with the Director of Sport - and these may vary week to week.

Holiday
Pro rata of the full time equivalent of 25 days per annum plus 8 bank holidays. As this is a term time only post, holiday pay will be incorporated into the annual salary.
