As Sports Manager you will manage the operational - and support the strategic needs - of all areas of business within Brookes Sport. Working to ensure outstanding people management and excellence in operational delivery are met; whilst ensuring the delivery of an excellent customer experience. Additionally to oversee the Sports Department\'s health and safety provision, and the training needs for the Sport Division as a whole.

Some responsibilities of this role include (but are not limited to):

  • Ensure operational excellence of all sports facilities and be responsible for the line management of all operational and amenities (facilities) based colleagues; ensuring excellent levels of customer service and facility management are maintained. Be confident to make decisions regarding all aspects of facility operations for the benefit of the overall business operation. Maintain forward facing presence when required to support the wider operational team
  • Manage overall delivery strategy of sound facilities management compliance and best practise protocols with regards operational delivery of the facility (i.e. operational and cleaning schedule, proactive facility Safety Inspection monitoring, Statuary Swimming Pool checks, etc)
  • Ensure that all accidents, incidents and near misses that occur in the sports facilities are appropriately recorded, and liaise closely (where required) with relevant health, safety and quality management based colleagues
  • Ensures that all operational reports adhere to sports facility Normal Operating Procedures, Emergency Action Plans, Risk Assessments and COSHH protocol
  • Day to day management of all operational reports. Oversee the recruitment and induction period of any new operational recruits and ensure the training and developmental needs of such operational posts are met
  • Oversee all cross-site (Headington and Harcourt) administrative duties with regards operational shift rotas and Human Resources administrative requirements for pay claims, DBS checks and contracts; for Duty Managers, Lifeguards, Sports Operatives and Sports Stewards
  • Undertake project work and plan/organise the resources for such tasks. Produce reports into individual focus areas and present operational proposals. To drive forward constant operational based improvements on behalf of the wider Operations Team\'s remit.
The candidate:
  • Have a passion for sports and active lifestyles
  • Have significant and relevant industry experience at management level
  • Facility Management and team leader experience within the leisure industry
  • Experience of overseeing budgets
  • Must be passionate about great customer service
  • Must be willing to work a flexible shift pattern including early mornings, evenings, and weekends
  • Should understand relevant health and safety legislation
  • Should have outstanding communication skills
  • Should have confidence and an approachable nature.
In this role you will work cross site between our Headington Campus and our Harcourt Hill campus.
