Founded in 1883, Stockport County are one of the country's longest established football clubs. Initially formed as Heaton Norris Rovers, the Club officially became Stockport County in 1890 after the County Borough of Stockport and have been based at Edgeley Park since 1902.
The team currently competes in Sky Bet League One, the third tier of the English Football League, after winning the 2023-24 Sky Bet League Two title.
Role Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic
Sports Rehabilitator
to join our
Football Education
team. The Sports Rehabilitator is responsible for delivering high-quality, evidence-based medical support across all Football Education squads, both male and female. The post-holder will coordinate injury diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and screening programmes, while ensuring effective communication and collaboration with players, coaches, and external medical providers. They will also provide emergency match day cover, maintain up-to-date medical records, and contribute to a positive and professional culture that supports player development and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
To co-ordinate and provide accurate evidence-based diagnosis and rehabilitation to all players, male and female, in the Football Education squads.
To co-ordinate and provide emergency match day cover.
To co-ordinate with external medical providers, providing clinical handovers pre and post appointments.
To co-ordinate and perform screening for all Football Education players.
To take an active role in all medical team meetings.
To plan and develop effective pre and rehabilitation programmes for players based on screening outcomes in line with the most up to date academic and clinical evidence across all age groups.
To monitor the effectiveness of injury management principles through clinical injury audits.
To ensure effective, appropriate communication of injury updates are provided to player, coaches and the wider Football Education staff team.
To maintain a flexible approach to work at all times including the requirement to undertake other duties and responsibilities as required.
To ensure all medical notes are up to date within 24 hours of treatment and in line with HCPC standards.
Manage and build relationships with all key stakeholders in line with the club's values.
Promote a positive culture across all aspects of the full Football Education programme to support student/player development and retention rates.
Essential
Qualified therapist with appropriate governing body registration (HCPC/CSP/BASRAT/MSST).
Level 2 Pitch side Qualification.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to use a variety of communication tools.
Team player who can work well within a wider team of football coaches, teachers and other support staff.
Strong organisational and administrative skills.
DBS check with children's barred list check.
UK driving licence.
Reliable and committed to working flexible hours.
Good understanding of sporting injuries and commonly avoidable injuries.
Understanding of current clinical guidelines and relevant legislation.
Genuine team player.
High level of discretion maintaining strict confidentiality.
Ability to adapt to changing circumstances.

Desirable
Knowledge of EPPP standards and working practices.
Experience of working in a football academy.
ITMMIF qualification.
FA Safeguarding Children Qualification.
Recent and relevant professional experience in sports performance environment.
