:
28,964 to 32,532 per annum
Contract Type: Permanent Full time 37 hours per week
Reference: REC2300 | Closing Date: Sunday, 9th November 2025
The Opportunity
You'll play a key role in delivering high-quality learning experiences across Sport and Sport Science programmes. Working closely with our Course Leaders and colleagues, you'll plan, prepare and deliver engaging lessons that challenge and inspire our students to reach their goals. Your teaching will be grounded in effective methodologies, tailored to individual needs and aligned with the department's curriculum.
You'll be responsible for creating and assessing learning materials, tracking student progress, and adapting your approach to suit a range of learning styles. You'll help maintain a positive and stimulating classroom environment, encouraging strong working relationships and fostering a culture of respect and motivation. Your contribution will extend beyond the classroom, as you support the delivery of sports teams within the Barnsley Sports Academy.
In this role, you'll also lead and supervise trips and residential visits that enrich the curriculum and support skill development. You'll build strong connections with local and regional organisations in sport, leisure, exercise, health and fitness, helping to broaden opportunities for learners and enhance their experience. You'll work flexibly, delivering learning through various formats including evening sessions, block weekends, online platforms and hyflex models.
You'll also provide cover when needed, contribute to individual learning plans, and support learners in achieving both academic and personal success. Your work will help create a dynamic and supportive environment where students are encouraged to aim high and make meaningful progress.
About You
You'll bring a strong foundation in Sport or Sport Science, supported by relevant industrial experience within Sport and/or Physical Activity. You'll also have experience of teaching learners aged 16 and above in an educational setting, and you're confident in planning and delivering engaging lessons that support a wide range of learners.
You'll be someone who communicates well, works collaboratively, and builds positive relationships with colleagues, learners, and external partners. You'll have experience working with, or the ability to build strong working relationships with, community sporting organisations. Your background may also include working or volunteering within a sports coaching or performance pathway, giving you valuable insight into athlete development and team dynamics.
You're flexible in your delivery style, comfortable teaching in different formats--whether that's online, in the evenings, over weekends, or through hyflex models--and you're confident using digital tools to enhance learning. Experience of delivering in a digitally enhanced way will be key to supporting learners effectively and keeping your teaching methods current.
You'll also be happy to lead trips and residential visits that enrich the curriculum and give learners valuable experiences outside the classroom. Above all, you care about creating a supportive and motivating learning environment. You take pride in helping students build confidence, develop skills, and achieve their goals.
