What you need to know about the role



We are seeking a skilled and proactive SQL/MySQL Database Administrator to manage, maintain, and optimise our database environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring high availability, performance, and security of our SQL and MySQL databases across production and development environments.


Key Responsibilities:

Administer, monitor, and maintain SQL Server and MySQL databases. Perform database tuning, optimisation, and capacity planning. Implement and manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies. Ensure database security, including access controls and encryption. Design and implement database schemas, tables, views, indexes, and stored procedures. Collaborate with development teams to support application performance and data integrity. Monitor database performance and proactively resolve issues. Maintain documentation related to database configurations, procedures, and policies. Support data migration, integration, and transformation activities. Participate in audits and ensure compliance with data governance and security standards.



What we need to know about you



We are looking for an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) with strong expertise in SQL Server and MySQL. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in writing and optimizing T-SQL and MySQL queries, as well as using database monitoring tools and performance tuning techniques. You should have a solid understanding of backup and recovery strategies, including replication and clustering, and be familiar with both Linux and Windows server environments. Knowledge of data security best practices and compliance standards such as GDPR is essential. Experience with cloud-based database services like Azure SQL or AWS RDS will be considered a plus. Strong problem-solving abilities and excellent communication skills are required.

Candidates should hold a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or MySQL Database Administrator Certification are preferred.
