We have a newly created vacancy for a Staff Nurses to join our Nursing Team on a relief basis.
This position is based in our Nursing Unit and will consist of working full shifts (7:30 - 20:30 & 20:00 - 08:00) where available. Whilst there is no set maximum/minimum hours per week to this position, we expect bank staff to accept at least one shift per month to stay familiar with our systems and residents.
About Us
Founded in 1955, we are a Barrow-in-Furness based charity providing both Nursing & Residential Care for adults with Learning and physical disabilities within in a Care Home setting. We operate 2 units; a 23 bedded Nursing unit and a 23 bedded residential unit.
Always operating in a Resident focused way, we value dignity, privacy, quality of care and the promotion of independence. We are a relatively small team of 80 staff across the two units allowing us to operate in a friendly, relaxed and homely atmosphere in which you will be encouraged to contribute.
Responsibilities
The main duties of this position are:
Assessing residents' needs and wishes, ensuring the highest possible standards of care are delivered.
Participate in the developing, reviewing and updating of care plans ensuring Resident's physical, social and psychological needs are met.
Where appropriate, promote independence and personal choice.
Support your colleagues in line with the NMC Code, following its guidance at all times.
Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory guidelines - taking a proactive approach to risk management.
Ensure your documentation and recording practice is efficient and thorough in all matters.
Contribute to the development of new practices and ideas in nursing and social care as the home moves forward.
Candidate Specifications
As a Registered Nurse (RNLD/RGN/RMN) you must be enthusiastic, caring, dedicated, passionate and have a valid NMC Pin. You should also:
have up to date evidence based clinical knowledge
be up to date with care planning and have completed all up-to-date mandatory training
be able to communicate at appropriate levels with all residents, relatives, staff, other professionals, and outside agencies involved in the care of the clients
be committed to your continuing professional development
be an effective team leader and role model.
have the knowledge to make research-based decisions regarding nursing care needs.
have a flexible approach to working hours.
be able to audit the care delivered to residents whilst on shift, ensuring that all their needs are met.
Possession of a enhanced DBS on the live update system would be beneficial.
