The Timber Staircase Maker is responsible for crafting high-quality wooden staircases using traditional woodworking techniques and modern machinery. This role involves interpreting technical drawings, selecting appropriate timber, producing components to precise specifications, and assembling and finishing staircases to meet design and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Read and interpret
architectural plans, technical drawings, and cutting lists.
Select timber materials
based on structural requirements, aesthetics, and project specifications.
Cut, shape, and machine
timber components using hand tools, power tools, and workshop machinery (e.g., saws, routers, CNC equipment).
Assemble staircases
, including treads, risers, strings, handrails, and balustrades, ensuring accuracy and structural integrity.
Perform detailed joinery
such as mortise and tenon joints, housing joints, and laminated components.
Conduct quality checks
to ensure finished products meet safety standards, building codes, and client expectations.
Work collaboratively
with designers, builders, and site installers to ensure seamless project delivery.
Maintain tools and equipment
, ensuring a safe and tidy workshop environment.
Troubleshoot construction issues
and adjust or repair components as needed.
Skills and Qualifications
