Steel erectors are responsible for assembling and installing the steel frameworks that form the skeleton of buildings, bridges, and other large structures. The role involves working at height, handling heavy materials, and ensuring accuracy and stability in line with technical specifications.
Pay & Hours
25 per hour (no accommodation provided)
30 per hour (if candidate arranges their own accommodation)
Approx. 60 hours per week
Enhanced rates for weekend work
Key Responsibilities
Erect and assemble structural steel in line with technical drawings and specifications
Position steel sections using cranes, hoists, and lifting equipment
Carry out welding and bolting tasks (focus on stick welding techniques)
Use hand and power tools for cutting, shaping, and joining metal components
Ensure work meets quality standards and complies with site health and safety procedures
Inspect completed structures for alignment, accuracy, and stability
Follow strict health and safety protocols when working at height
Requirements
Valid
CSCS card
Proven experience in steel erection or similar role
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
Skilled in welding, bolting, and metal fabrication techniques
Physically fit and comfortable with demanding outdoor work
Comfortable working at height using safety harnesses and fall-arrest systems
Willing to comply with random drug and alcohol testing as per site policy
(Desirable) Additional tickets such as IPAF or CPCS
