Job Description

We are currently seeking an inspector to join our busy Steelwork Inspection Department based from our London offices and visiting sites mainly in the South East, but potentially all over the UK.

The Role

Our Steelwork Inspection department undertakes protective coating inspection as well as inspection and testing of steelwork, including NDT of welds. This is a hands-on role with a significant amount of on-site work. You will be part of a team and will be responsible for liaising with the customer and working with other team members, as well as getting involved doing inspections and taking samples as the job requires.

Working from the Sandberg Laboratories in Clapham, London Approximately 60% of time spent on site Undertaking inspection and taking samples initially based on your experience and knowledge, but eventually developing to cover both coating and steelwork surveys as required by the project Preparation of comprehensive reports of findings Permanent, full-time position through PAYE. Normally Monday to Friday, 8am-4pm Occasional night and weekend work as required by the project Work mainly in UK, but potential for overseas work Will include some overnight stays depending on project location
Salary is competitive and will be based on experience, qualifications and certification. A twice-yearly bonus may be paid (dependent on the firm's performance) and there is a Sandberg pension scheme.

The Person

It is important that you are able to work withing a small team, manage your time effectively and that you are comfortable dealing with clients in a professional manner.

Essential

Experience in coatings, steelwork inspection and/or NDT Willing to be hands on, including using abrasive wheels etc. Physically able to access site via ladders or work in cramped spaces etc. HNC/HND level qualifications or better in a materials/civil engineering related subject Good command of English, both written and spoken Good communicator and able to converse with a variety of people Driving licence recognised in the UK

Desirable

Relevant tickets such as CSWIP, ICORR or PCN Hold a CSCS card
This is a London-based position, only applicants within commuting distance or expressing an intention to relocate will be considered.
