and play a crucial role in protecting consumers while supporting businesses. We are looking for a

Trading Standards Officer / Fair Trade Inspector

to conduct inspections, investigate complaints, and enforce trading standards legislation to ensure fair and safe trading practices.


Key Responsibilities:




Conduct business inspections in line with statutory requirements. Investigate complaints and take enforcement action where necessary. Assist in metrology inspections and verification of weighing and measuring equipment. Assist would be for FTIs. TSO would be fully competent to inspect, investigate and enforce3 in this capacity. Provide advice to businesses on compliance and best practices. Undertake proactive visits, surveys, and sampling to assess compliance. Represent the Council at meetings and deliver presentations. Prepare and issue reports, maintain accurate records, and use relevant database systems.



Qualifications:




Fair Trading Inspector:




Trading Standards Practitioner Certificate (or equivalent under CTSI Qualification Framework, e.g., FCATS). The TSPC is under the CTSI Framework. The FCATS is an earlier equivalent.



Trading Standards Officer:




Diploma in Trading Standards (DTS), Degree in Trading Standards (including Metrology), DCATS (including Metrology), or CTSI Trading Standards Practitioner Diploma.
