Your role of Steward at Historic Environment Scotland is a permanent position with a likely start date of August/September 2025.
You will work with colleagues to prepare the site for operation each day and welcome visitors throughout the year. You will be assisting with information, entry tickets and products, and will make sure visitors have the best possible experience of this site with its unique history and architecture. You will interact with visitors in the house and gallery spaces, inspiring them to explore the compelling and diverse history of Duff House, National Galleries of Scotland and the Dunimarle Collection.

Key Responsibilities of this role
Customer Service
o Process and promote retail and admissions transactions through the till system.
o Ensure a high standard of presentation throughout the site, following appropriate cleaning processes in both public and staff areas.
o Support the team in achievement of quality assurance Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
o Actively support in HES seminars, events, functions and promotions.
o Provide the warmest welcome to our visitors and engage proactively with customer service.
o Deliver guided tours/talks as part of the core visitor experience.
Teamwork
o Proactively communicate with colleagues across the site to ensure high performance, standards and consistency.
o Support the Monument Managers on partnership and community engagement initiatives and projects, including volunteering, weddings and other events.
Commercial Awareness
o Work together with the monument team to achieve commercial performance targets.
o Promote commercial opportunities within the monument, such as upcoming events and retail products.
o Assist the Monument Managers to ensure accurate stock management and assist with stock ordering and deliveries as required.
Health and Safety & Compliance
o Ensure the security of the site, buildings and contents, including acting as keyholder.
o Monitor and comply with all H&S procedures/guidance relevant to the site.
o Follow correct procedures to ensure safe operation of all equipment.
o Ensure that the health and safety of staff, visitors and contractors is paramount at all times.
