Our client who are going through a transformation due to rapid growth within their business. They\'re looking for someone with Stock controlling and Purchasing experience within the manufacturing industry.

The Job

The Role:

  • Overseeing their stock components for their projects, and liaising with suppliers of all products to purchase and make sure they are delivered on time
  • Reconciling the stock valuation at the monthly stock counts (comparing stock records to live count)
  • You will be working with a procurement coordinator who will place most of the purchase orders but you would be responsible for deciding what is purchased and the quantities.
  • Management of re-order levels and re-order triggers. Liaison with warehouse and production to set up optimum stock levels, taking into account warehousing, working capital, seasonal demands and price.
  • Use all available info to reduce out of stock situations, eg changing market trends (adding an item to stock), checking new orders on arrival if needed, liaising with sales to find out what they\'re quoting, seasonal variation.
  • Set up stock levels/processes/records for new products
  • Negotiate best prices on all products
  • Product related assessments / schemes, eg ISO14001, FSC
  • Find new suppliers when required
  • Updating warehouse weekly with deliveries due in for the following week
  • Any other tasks as requested by management team
What does success look like?
  • Reduce non-conformances rising from stock purchasing
  • Goods in on time (5 days before install) score to 95% for your area
  • Budget maintained (total project purchasing costs over total revenue)
  • Accurate stock take valuation completed by 14th of month, every month
Key Skills and Capabilities Required:
  • Experience in stock control and purchasing in a manufacturing business
  • Ability to work within deadlines in a very fast paced environment and cope under pressure
  • Experience working in a high growth business
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Knowledge of furniture manufacturing industry would be an advantage but not essential
  • CIPS qualification an advantage
