Alston Sutton Farms are a family-run business situated within the Mendip Hills between Cheddar to the east and Burnham on Sea to the west.
This is a well-equipped mainly all grass farm that supports 220 high yielding Friesian Holstein cows and followers. The unit consists of a fully automated 24/24 GEA parlour with auto feed feeders and backing gate. Cow housing is cubicles with a mixture of sand and mattress beds plus good handling facilities. DIY AI is carried out with spread block calving from August through to Feb. Cows are grazed with good track access to paddocks this together with grass/maize/whole crop semi-TMR feeding. Youngstock are reared both on the home site and an off lying unit some two miles away.
The role is to relief milk for eighty days per annum and assist with the rearing of youngstock, together with general on farm duties. The position requires the person to be fully conversant with milking, cow care and all stock tasks with a minimum of two years' experience in a similar position, this together with a full clean driving licence.
This position offers a good remuneration package to include a well-sited two-bedroom C/H, D/G mobile home, together with regular time off.
