At Balfour Beatty, we're powering the future of the UK's energy infrastructure. Our Power Transmission & Distribution (T&D) team is seeking a dedicated and proactive Storesperson to support our ASTI Project Beauly to Blackhillock.

Key ResponsibilitiesEnsure the efficient running of site stores and yard facilities across UK-wide project locations. ="1123">Manage the issue and receipt of materials, including tools, plant, consumables, PPE, and specialist equipment. Maintain optimal stock levels and provide regular reporting with early alerts for critical items. Catalogue, segregate, and manage project materials and ensure the safe disposal of redundant stock. Control site access and egress, issue visitor flashcards, and ensure site security throughout working hours. Support the project and site teams by ensuring all deliveries, collections, and material logistics are well managed.


What you'll be doing




To co-ordinate and manage plant & stock ensuring all administration procedures
are followed, and ensuring accurate stock management.

Regularly review supply alternatives to ensure best value is always achieved
Liaise with operational Staff to ensure materials required for site are arranged
and accessible in line with operational extended hours working

Unload & load delivery vehicles.
Check deliveries against advice notes and for quality, quantities & damage.
Liaise with suppliers on the replacement/return of faulty/damaged stock
Ordering and Issue of materials, PPE, consumables, etc.
Hiring, acceptance and off hiring of plant and equipment.
Management of the calibration of tools & equipment (inc Lifting)
Security of yard ensuring access is only permitted to authorised personnel.
Ensuring yard(s) and store is tidy at all times.
sign in / out and record all construction site deliveries
Distribute / advise deliveries to required supervisors
Ensure the construction site is kept locked and secure throughout the shift
Present a positive image of the company to all visitors and offer assistance at all times
Marshalling traffic and vehicles
Ensure all workers and visitors sign in and out
Liaise with site staff to plan ahead for the day's delivery and despatch schedule
Open gate and Lock up the gate at the end of the day
Checking all deliveries comply to site rules, if not vehicles must be turned away
Take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and of others who
may be affected by your actions or omissions whilst at work.

Cooperate with BB in all matters pertaining to Health and Safety to enable the
Company to carry out and enhance its legal duties and requirements.

Responsible for the health, safety and welfare of all persons under your
control.

Work collaboratively with Senior Project Managers, Project Managers, Project
Engineers, Operational Staff and Support Functions

Drive yourself and others to comply with all business policies, procedures and
governance



To demonstrate correct use and knowledge of the following:

Tirfor
Blocks and Wiring Equipment
Bonds and slings
Clamps
Toggles
Hand tools
Protection systems - fall arrest
Permanent attachment
Demarcation
Lifting and lowering

Who we're looking for


The following qualities/experience are essential:

Full clean driving licence
Ability to work in a team
Good verbal and written communication skills
Able to undertake work in high pressure situations
Flexibility - Willing to travel and work across the UK
Responsibility - a strong attitude towards health and safety
NSI 6 & 8 persons.


The following qualities/experience are desirable:

Experience of working on a variety of construction project types.
Knowledge of the Power industry (is an advantage)
Valid Plant Tickets (will be an advantage)
Valid Telehandler licence
IT Skills - MS Outlook, MSP & MS Word, Excel
OHL Authorisations (will be an advantage)
Emergency First Aid at Work
