The Hospitality Department of the Property Division are responsible for operating various cafes, restaurants, bars and events located across all their Campuses to provide affordable and high-quality food and services for the Imperial community and external clients. They create a valuable resource for Imperial, which in turn supports our academic community of world leaders in the provision of Engineering, Medicine, Natural Sciences, Business Management, Research and Teaching.



We are looking for an experienced Stores and Distribution Manager who will be responsible for supporting and assisting the Soft Services, Stores and Distribution Manager in managing the daily operations of the Central Stores area, the Stores Team, and the departments fleet of vehicles.

What you would be doing

You will be responsible for ensuring the effective transportation of goods across all Imperial campuses and total security of stock from order to receipt, storage, and distribution in compliance with Imperial and departmental procedures, health, safety, and hygiene legislation.



You will line manage and assist in managing the Stores Team, and conduct and supervise the allocation of labour throughout the stores in line with departmental budgets. This will involve planning and preparing rotas and cleaning schedules, conducting annual appraisals, setting objectives and monitoring performance. You will be responsible for briefing, inducting and coordinating staff training for their and your own development.



You will take full responsibility for the Stores Management and Fleet Management and ensure health, safety and food hygiene legislative requirements are met, with particular emphasis on manual handling. The role will also require you to promote and foster a positive working environment, assist in identifying areas of customer service where improvements can be made and helping to implement solutions. You will also support other Managers and staff within the Team.

What we are looking for

A-Level or equivalent relevant experience Intermediate Health & Safety Qualification A manual handling qualification followed by training to become an assessor will be provided within two months of appointment Clean Full Driving Licence Previous experience of managing a team, with proven ability to motivate and lead High level understanding of the importance of health & safety at work and associated regulations In possession of a full, current, UK driving licence and to comply fully with the Imperial Code of Practice - Driving at work (cannot have over 7 points on their licence at any time) Physically able to operate different equipment / machinery and lift objects of varying load Excellent IT skills to operate a computerised stock ordering system (ideally experience of Procure Wizard) Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, to present and deliver information in an appropriate manner Ability to use own initiative with limited supervision to deal with problems that arise A flexible approach to work, with willingness to work a 5 over 7-day shift pattern including evenings and weekends, and responding to emergencies as required, across all Imperial sites
