Are you organised, hands-on, and good with people? If so, we'd love to hear from you! Gloucestershire Managed Services (GMS) is looking for a proactive Stores Assistant to join our busy Estates team. Based in Cheltenham, close to Cheltenham General Hospital, you'll play a key role

in keeping things running smoothly by managing our stock of building, electrical, and mechanical materials - ensuring our maintenance teams have everything they need to keep our hospitals safe, functional and fully operational.

We're looking for someone with great organisational skills, a hands-on approach and the ability to keep things moving in a fast-paced environment. Key responsibilities include:



Managing a large stock inventory of over 2,000 items, with a value of around 200,000 Requisitioning and issuing materials to the Estates maintenance team. Ensuring timely deliveries and maintaining accurate records using our Facilities Management System. Conducting regular stock checks and audits. Working closely with the Workshop Manager to ensure materials are available for planned works. Maintaining inventories at both Gloucestershire Royal and Cheltenham General Hospital sites. Monitoring and ordering personal protective equipment (PPE) and keeping distribution records. Liaising with suppliers to manage stock levels and resolve any supply issues. Keeping stores clean, tidy, safe, and well organised. Regularly lifting and moving stock items (frequently up to 25kg, occasionally more with lifting equipment).

To succeed in this role, you will need:



A good understanding of building and engineering materials. Strong organisational and communication skills. Good computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office. A positive customer-focused attitude. The ability to work independently and collaboratively. Good numeracy and literacy skills. A full, clean driving licence is desirable.

You'll work closely with Estates and maintenance colleagues across two busy hospital sites, supporting the planning and delivery of essential works. You'll also take a proactive approach to managing stock, identifying slow-moving items, and suggesting improvements to increase efficiency.
