The Stores Operative plays a key role in the smooth running of warehouse operations by managing the movement of goods in and out, processing warehouse tasks, preparing stock for production, and organising transport and documentation for outgoing products. The role requires a high level of attention to detail, IT competency, and forklift handling skills.
Receive, inspect, and sign for incoming goods
Check deliveries against purchase orders and report discrepancies
Enter stock into the inventory system and store it in designated locations.
Goods Out:
Pick and prepare goods accurately based on work order requirements
Organise packaging, labelling, and documentation (e.g. delivery notes, certificates, job packs)
Book and coordinate collections with transport providers
Ensure goods are shipped in line with schedule and specifications.
Warehouse & Inventory:
Maintain accurate stock records and support regular stock takes
Keep the warehouse clean, safe, and organised
Follow health & safety and company procedures.
Production Support:
Prepare and issue stock or materials to the production team based on production work orders
Communicate effectively with operations, purchasing and sales regarding material needs or shortages.
Proven experience in a similar warehouse or logistics role
Forklift licence experience (B1/B2 counterbalance)
IT literate - capable of using inventory software, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word), and basic logistics tools
Experience preparing despatch paperwork and working with transport providers
Familiarity with warehouse procedures and safe manual handling practices.
Organised and methodical with good attention to detail
Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work under pressure
Team-oriented with good communication skills
Physically fit and safety conscious.
