The Role:
We are looking for a proactive and reliable Stores Person to join our busy Northampton branch team. This is a vital, hands-on role where you will be an integral part of our operations, ensuring the smooth running of the warehouse and contributing to our commitment to customer satisfaction. There is scope for progression for the right candidate who is keen to learn all aspects of the electrical wholesale business, from stores to the trade counter.
Key Responsibilities:
Receiving and Dispatching Goods:
Accurately receive, check, and sign for incoming deliveries, reporting any discrepancies or damaged stock immediately.
Stock Management:
Organise stock efficiently in the warehouse and on shelves, perform regular stock checks, manage returns, and maintain accurate inventory records using our computerised system.
Order Fulfilment:
Accurately pick and pack customer orders for collection or delivery, ensuring they are ready according to schedule.
Trade Counter Support:
Assist on the trade counter when required, serving customers face-to-face and over the phone, providing high-quality service and building professional relationships.
Warehouse Maintenance:
Ensure the warehouse is kept clean, tidy, safe, and secure at all times, adhering to all health and safety guidelines.
General Duties:
Assist with other branch tasks as needed, including van loading/unloading etc.
Skills & Experience Required:
Experience:
Previous experience in an electrical wholesale, stores, or similar trade environment is highly advantageous.
Communication:
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a friendly and customer-focused approach.
Organisation:
Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational and time-management skills to manage a busy workload effectively.
Problem-Solving:
The ability to work methodically, use initiative, and think on your feet to resolve stock issues or unexpected challenges.
Physical Stamina:
The role involves manual handling and lifting heavy items , so a good level of physical fitness is required.
Licences (Advantageous):
A forklift licence (Counterbalance/Reach) is an advantage but not essential.
The working hours are 8.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday, and the possibility of Saturday mornings worked on a rota basis.
