We are looking for a Stores Supervisor to join our team at Tods. The role will be based at our Head Quarters on Portland, Dorset.
The Stores Supervisor is responsible for leading all aspects of the stores function at, ensuring efficient, compliant, and safe handling of materials across goods-in, inventory, and dispatch. This role oversees a small team and drives operational excellence in support of production, quality, and customer delivery. The Supervisor will implement best practices in Defence stores management, maintain accurate records, and foster a clean, organised working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Oversight
Line manage the Stores Lead and stores team, providing clear direction, coaching, and performance feedback.
Set and monitor daily priorities across goods receipt, stock control, kit marshalling, and dispatch.
Ensure adherence to Health & Safety, housekeeping, and compliance standards.
Operational Control
Oversee all goods-in activities, ensuring accurate booking against purchase orders and preparation for inspection.
Maintain and audit stock records, freezer logs, resin/glass cloth documentation, and dispatch registers.
Ensure correct handling and storage of chemicals, PPE, consumables, and classified parts.
Monitor minimum stock levels
Implement and manage regular stock counts
Process Improvement
Lead reorganisation of racking, material locations, and stores layout to optimise space and flow.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives including FIFO, small batch utilisation, and shelf-life rotation.
Identify and resolve bottlenecks or inefficiencies in stores operations.
Systems & Documentation
Ensure accurate use of MRP database for stock movements, stock levels and traceability.
Maintain documentation for goods received, dispatched, and stored in accordance with quality and security protocols.
Support audits and inspections with complete and compliant records
Cross-Functional Support
Liaise with Production, Quality, and Security teams to ensure timely material availability and compliance.
Escalate shortages, discrepancies, or certification issues promptly and professionally.
Participate in daily tiered meetings to support production flow and issue resolution.
Qualifications:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and MRP systems.
Valid Forklift licence.
Eligibility for UK security clearance.
Adherence to Business Management System and ISO9001 requirements
Knowledge / Skills:
Proven experience managing a busy stores function in a manufacturing environment.
Strong leadership and team development skills.
Excellent organisational, planning, and communication abilities.
High attention to detail and commitment to compliance.
Safety-conscious mindset and excellent housekeeping standards.
Eligibility for UK security clearance.
