We are looking for an STP Bid Manager Lead to join our Train Planning team in Manchester. You will be joining a great team, leading the STP Bid team. You will be responsible for the weekly bid and offer cycle preparing amended schedules and rolling stock diagrams. If you are familiar with the railway Informed Traveller process then you'll fit right in.
You will have considerable experience using standard Train Planning software packages and a proven record of manipulating schedules and diagrams. You will also be a person who already knows the rail network throughout the North of England and South of Scotland and are familiar with the inputs to the process such as the Engineering Access Statement and the D/CPPP together with the Industry processes for meeting the deadlines, including following through with any necessary Training Planning amendments that occur beyond the milestone dates. You'll need a keen eye for detail and display leadership values to keep your team fully motivated and progressing.
You will also be leading preparation, analysis and implementation of internal and external Capacity Studies. You will draw on your established knowledge of timetable patterns and rolling stock diagrams across the industry. You will especially be able to make sound judgements in relation to the impacts to the train crew diagrams when delivering Capacity Studies.
The Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) is a transformative project affecting the routes across the Pennines - and to deliver it successfully we require the very best Train Planners. Taken together with Central Scotland and the Borders via the West Coast Main Line, the East Coast Main Line and the routes to Liverpool, Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire, you will never have a dull moment optimising amended train plans and diagrams. You should be very comfortable to enter a fast paced environment and hit the ground running to lead your team.
As well as an eye for detail, you'll need to participate actively in collaborative industry working groups, and be confident in preparing and delivering management and executive reports both verbal and written.
