Location: Mobile Worker (Expected to be able to travel to large areas across the UK, with a focus on our North territory which includes Northern Ireland, Scotland, North of England and the Midlands)
Salary Range: 55,000 - 61,000

About the role
Are you passionate about empowering communities and co-designing solutions that spark positive change?
We're looking for a Strategic Communities Manager to lead a team of Community Managers in delivering high-impact engagement, co-design, and mobilisation initiatives that improve access to and experience of cancer care.
In this rewarding role, you will increase Macmillan's understanding of the diverse needs of communities affected by cancer, allowing us to make a real difference and maximise the impact we have. This will be achieved by driving the creation, testing, and execution of strategies for community engagement and participation, building a best practice framework and maximising opportunities for community mobilisation.
By analysing insights, needs, and opportunities, you'll shape and prioritise a plan that guides where our community managers focus their efforts, whilst allocating resources for the leadership, growth, and implementation of valuable lived experiences, communities and networks across Macmillan. Your work will ensure these initiatives align well with our broader community goals, enriching the connections and partnerships we foster beyond Macmillan.
Key responsibilities:

• Lead the development and delivery of community engagement and mobilisation frameworks.
• Manage and deploy Community Managers to external community partnerships and priority programmes of work.
• Collaborate with internal teams to align participation and community strategies.
• Build and steward strategic relationships with community organisations and local systems.
• Translate organisational strategy into operational community engagement plans and budgets.
• Evaluate impact and ensure data integrity across community initiatives.
• Facilitate outreach and networking events to amplify community voices.
• Oversee community grant funding and ensure effective investment.

About you
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience:

• Proven experience of line management, driving high performance across diverse and dispersed teams.
• Experience building strong, collaborative stakeholder relationships with people from all backgrounds.
• Experience working collaboratively with communities coordinating, shaping, and delivering Community focused initiatives.
• Experience of applying community focused initiatives to contribute to wider systemic change.
• Experience in operational planning and budget management.
