You will feed directly into the senior leadership team and will be supported by a dedicated SLT with purposeful strategic priorities. Job purpose:



Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of the school's core curriculum (English, Maths, Science), ensuring it meets the diverse needs of pupils with SEND.

To deliver high quality teaching and learning opportunities for the Learners at Nore Academy. Working alongside the wider teaching team and support staff assist in all aspects of the work within the school to promote a healthy and supportive working environment

Key duties and responsibilities:



This post is subject to the current Conditions of Service for School Teachers in England and Wales and is in accordance with range of duties set out in that document relevant to the post holder's title and salary grade.

Strategic Leader of Core Curriculum



1. Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of the school's core curriculum (English, Maths, Science), ensuring it meets the diverse needs of pupils with SEND.

2. Lead the creation and evaluation of adapted resources, schemes of work, long and medium term plans and learning environments.

3. Ensure curriculum content is sequenced, adapted, and personalised to support pupils with a wide range of SEND needs.

4. Work with subject and class teachers to design pathways that align with EHCP outcomes, accreditation routes, and preparation for adulthood.

5. Monitor teaching, learning, and assessment within core subjects, providing coaching, feedback, and professional development to raise standards.

6. Analyse pupil progress data across core subjects, identifying trends, strengths, and areas requiring targeted intervention.

7. Oversee the selection and effective use of assessment tools and data.

8. Collaborate with therapy teams, behaviour specialists, and support staff to ensure the curriculum integrates communication, independence, sensory regulation, and wellbeing.

9. Lead moderation processes within and across classes to ensure accurate and consistent assessment.

10. Work with senior leaders to develop curriculum policy, long-term strategic planning, and quality assurance processes.

11. Support staff in adapting teaching approaches, resources, and environment to promote access for pupils with profound, severe, or complex learning needs.

12. Ensure curriculum delivery aligns with statutory requirements, Ofsted expectations, and evidence-informed best practice for SEND.

13. Contribute to whole-school CPD in curriculum design, inclusion, literacy, numeracy, and effective pedagogy for SEND learners.

14. Communicate regularly with parents/carers about curriculum pathways, progress, and individual learning plans.

15. Promote a culture of high expectations, engagement, and achievement across the core curriculum.

16. Coordinate interventions and support programmes aimed at improving outcomes in literacy, numeracy, and functional skills.

17. To create and manage a caring, supportive, purposeful and stimulating environment which is conducive to children's learning

18. To plan and prepare lessons in order to deliver the National Curriculum and other subjects ensuring breadth and balance in all subjects

19. To identify clear teaching objectives and learning outcomes, with appropriate challenge and high expectations

20. To plan lessons that support the development of pupils' additional needs as described in the Section F of their EHCP.

21. To establish positive relationships, maintain good order and discipline among the pupils.

22. To be responsible for safeguarding ensuring the health and safety of pupils in your care.

23. To organise and manage groups or individual pupils providing appropriate adaptations to ensure inclusion of all pupils irrespective of their needs and abilities.

24. To plan opportunities to develop the social, moral, emotional and cultural aspects of pupils' learning

25. To maintain a regular system of monitoring, assessment, record-keeping and reporting of children's progress

26. To ensure effective use of support staff within the classroom as appropriate.

27. To ensure all groups of pupils attain, achieve and make appropriate rates of progress as determined by agreed targets

28. To participate in staff meetings as required

29. To communicate and consult with parents over all aspects of their children's education academic, social and emotional

30. To cover in the absence of a colleague

31. To partake in the quality assurance of the service and promote without prejudice the agreed policies of the Service

1. To ensure that service policies are reflected in daily practice

2. To liaise with outside agencies when appropriate

3. To support the Leadership Team Teacher in promoting the ethos of the service

4. To promote the welfare of children and to support the school in safeguarding children though relevant policies and procedures

5. To promote equality as an integral part of the role and to treat everyone with fairness and dignity

6. To recognise health and safety is a responsibility of every employee, to take reasonable care of self and others and to comply with the Service Health and Safety policy and any service-specific procedures /rules that apply to this role
