This is an exciting opportunity to join the Proactive and Trident Unit within Specialist Crime of the Metropolitan Police.
We are looking for a strategic operations support officer to provide professional administrative and organisational support to the Specialist Crime Senior Leadership Team (SLT), enabling effective leadership of Proactive and Trident operations. The role focuses on ensuring accurate coordination of compliance, performance tracking, and engagement activities that support operational delivery and senior decision-making.
Working for the Met doesn't have to mean patrolling the streets. Just as important as our uniformed officers is our 14,000-strong team of professional and support staff working behind the scenes. It's these skilled people who provide the organisational capability to police London.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain and update performance trackers, training records, and duty rotas to ensure senior leaders have accurate operational oversight.
Coordinate weekly, monthly, and quarterly performance data returns to support strategic tasking, resource planning, and performance meetings.
Draft briefing notes, reports, and correspondence for the OCU Commander to ensure they are fully prepared for internal and external meetings.
Facilitate governance boards (Finance, People, Health & Safety) by preparing agendas, collating inputs, and tracking actions and decisions.
Monitor departmental expenditures and liaise with Finance colleagues, including oversight of the CSC Contingency Fund.
Lead private office processes by triaging email and diary management, allocating tasks, and improving workflow efficiency.
Support change management by coordinating CSC improvement initiatives through senior MPS governance structures.
Collaborate with other Specialist Crime staff offices to troubleshoot and resolve logistical and operational challenges.
Coordinate recognition activities (letters of thanks, commendations, ceremonies) to strengthen organisational culture and staff engagement.
Organise and deliver engagement events (expos, training days, overseas visits), extended SLT meetings, and away days to promote collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Edit and publish newsletters and operational updates to improve communication and information flow across Specialist Crime.
Act as single point of contact (SPOC) for promotion processes, coordinating logistics, assessor availability, and maintaining confidential records.
Benefits:
You'll enjoy the kind of great benefits that you'd expect from one of London's largest employers.
These include;
Annual leave entitlement of 28 days plus bank holidays, rising to 33 days after 5 years of service
Civil service pension arrangements
Interest free season ticket loans
Membership of Met sports and social clubs
Flexible working conditions and many more.
