Join NY Highways as a Street Lighting Supervisor and play a key role in managing the day-to-day operations of our electrical engineering activities. From major works to cyclical maintenance and third-party contracts, you'll oversee a wide range of projects that help keep North Yorkshire illuminated and safe.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll manage operatives, mentor apprentices, and ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations. If you're passionate about quality, safety, and team development, we want to hear from you.
What You'll Be Doing
Supervising and managing operatives and depot operations
Overseeing planned and emergency electrical engineering programmes
Maintaining accurate site records and supporting budget planning
Ensuring compliance with HEA/HERS standards and assessments
Leading staff appraisals, onboarding, and mentoring of apprentices
Setting safety performance measures and promoting a positive team culture
Supporting delivery of major and minor works, passenger transport, and third-party contracts
What We're Looking For
Essential:
City & Guilds Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Installation
18th Edition Wiring Regulations
Experience in highway electrical activities (repairs, testing, installation)
Knowledge of legislation and guidance related to street lighting and electrical design
Ability to travel across North Yorkshire
Desirable:
Leadership experience in supervising teams and managing depot operations
Familiarity with HEA/HERS staff assessments and compliance
Strong communication and mentoring skills
