We are now seeking a street sweeper operative to join our friendly team at Mead Park Depot, therefore, it is desirable that you have experience and practical experience in a street cleansing discipline, along with technical competence in street cleansing.

The purpose of the job is to assist with maintaining safe and clean roads, footpaths and other primary public areas within the town of Harlow. This will be undertaken with the use of HGV vehicles, street sweepers, plant and equipment. Working alone within a team, please note that this role also involves working in all weathers, walking long distances to cover works contract areas, lifting heavy loads and requires flexibility to work some weekends.

You must hold a full valid UK driving licence.

Job Purpose



To assist with maintaining safe and clean roads, footpaths and other primary public areas within the town of Harlow. This will be undertaken with the use of HGV vehicles, street sweepers, plant and equipment. Working alone and within a team, please note that this role also involves working in all weathers; walking long distances to cover works contract area; lifting heavy loads and requires flexibility to work some weekends.

Main Duties and Responsibilities



Ensure all work is carried out to the standards required Liaise with other employees of HTS as necessary to complete specified work. Ensure levels of productivity and work are within the required timescales and categories. Ensure your business area is presented in a manner that reflects the HTS image and values. Assist the sweeping and sanitation works by walking alongside HGV and pavement sweepers team members with appropriate equipment (e.g. blower, broom, chewing gum remover) ensuring clear pathways and roads. Only fully trained and qualified drivers will smaller road/pavement sweepers (7.5 tonnes or less) and if required, larger HGV (10 tonne lorries). Assist in the safe removal of fly tipping waste, wildlife remains and litter in contract areas. Provide a polite and friendly response to public enquiries.

Health and Safety



With each task undertaken, prioritise own safety including team members and the public. Respond and take appropriate action in emergencies. Report hazards to line management and safety representatives and record accidents promptly and accurately. If driving HGVs or using plant/equipment, carry out necessary pre and post checks for safe use and general maintenance. Complete relevant logbook accurately. Observe and comply with relevant risk assessments and HTS policies, procedures and instructions in respect of plant/machine/equipment use.
