We're looking for a dedicated and experienced Works Inspector to join our Street Works Compliance Team.
The team
Our team is responsible for enforcement activities outlined by the New Roads and Street Works Act, the Traffic Management Act, the Highways Act and associated Codes of Practice.
We ensure that all works on the highway network are carried our safely, efficiently and in compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
The role
Proven experience in a similar role (e.g., streetworks inspector, highways or civils supervisor)
As our Works Inspector you will undertake appropriate inspections of all types of reinstatements and live work sites.
Use your knowledge of current legislation to plan and undertake The New Roads and Street Works Act inspections
Undertake permit and licence checks and inspections to ensure legislative compliance.
Assist with the co-ordination of works and activities taking place on the highway to minimise the disruption and inconvenience caused to all users of the highway.
You will also ensure inspection results are accurately recorded, reported and follow through any enforcement action required.
Investigate customer enquiries and third-party reports to ensure a satisfactory outcome.
Ensure that works are completed on time and quality of reinstatements complies with the Specification for the Reinstatements of Openings in Highways.
Participate in the provision of the winter maintenance regime, undertake weather and road condition checks to ensure an informed decision is made with regards pre-salting/gritting/etc.
What you will bring...
You will have current working knowledge and understanding of current highway legislation including The New Roads and Street Works Act 1991, Traffic Management Act 2004, Highways Act 1980 and associated Codes of Practice.
You will be able to evidence recent experience of working within a street works/highways/statutory undertaker inspector or supervisor role.
You will have strong organisational skills and be comfortable managing your own workload and prioritising tasks based of level of need and importance.
You will have experience of working with Microsoft office 365 and all its applications.
Experience of working with the Symology Aurora platform is desired but not essential.
You will be comfortable lone working as well as being part of a team.
You will have excellent communication skills, both written and oral, good interpersonal skills and be able to demonstrate collaborative practise as well as influencing and negotiating skills.
A current driving licence is essential as you will need to visit sites across the county regularly. A works vehicle will be provided for your use.
