Job Description

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, kind and highly motivated Strength and Conditioning Coach to join the School's co-curricular and wellbeing team, working closely with PE staff, sports coaches, and pastoral leaders to support the physical development, performance, and wellbeing of all students. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate individual to contribute directly to the School's mission of developing well-rounded individuals by fostering resilience, confidence, and healthy habits for life. The coach will also take the lead, under the supervision of the Director of Sport, in managing the gym spaces and student access to ensure high standards of both the equipment being used and safe use.


The successful candidate will design and deliver age-appropriate strength and conditioning programmes that align with students' developmental stages and support their participation in sport and physical activity. You will play a key role in promoting injury prevention, physical literacy, and a positive training culture that reflects the School's ethos of "the work of each for the weal of all." The role also involves supporting the strategic growth of the School's sport and wellbeing offering, ensuring it is inclusive, progressive, and aligned with the School's broader educational aims.


This role is fixed term from 1 September 2025 to 3 July 2026.

Experience & Background



The successful candidate will be a reliable and capable individual, with a degree in Sports Science, Strength & Conditioning or a related field and/or equivalent professional experience. You will be prepared to work flexibly with some early morning and evening working throughout the week.

Duties



You will be responsible for:

Creating and delivering age-appropriate, inclusive training programmes for individuals and teams, catering to varying levels of ability and experience. Coaching sessions that develop strength, speed, agility, endurance, coordination, and movement literacy. Tracking student progress, providing tailored feedback and adjustments to maximise individual development. Exploring and establishing a 1:1 opt in personal training offer for students and staff. Overseeing the safe, effective use of the school's fitness spaces and equipment. Assisting in maintaining and developing the strength and conditioning facilities as part of our long-term sporting vision.

This post is Regulated Activity.

Hours of Work



This fixed term post works term time only for 33 weeks of the year and you will be required to work 37.5 hours each week, Monday to Saturday. The work pattern will be discussed at interview but is likely to include some late evenings and early mornings because of the nature of a boarding school day. In addition, the post will be required to work an additional 30 annualised hours to be worked during the year by mutual agreement.

Salary



20,710 salary based on the above hours and weeks of work, which is pro-rata of the full time equivalent salary of 28,181 per annum.
