Stroke Centre Support Worker

Exciting opportunity to join our team who provide specialised long-term support for people living with stroke, dementia and head injury at Derbyshire Stroke & Neuro Therapy Centre in Holmewood.

We are looking for someone to meet and greet our service users when they arrive in the morning. You will need to be able to help to take coats off and make drinks, being aware of people who have modified diets and need thickened fluids (training will be given).

You will be confident enough to sit and chat and encourage people to start an activity, or arts and crafts etc.

We are looking for someone flexible in their approach and able to work as part of the team, helping to put the shopping away in the morning when it arrives, answering the phone and supporting people off our buses when they arrive.

In the day you would be making drinks, supporting with activities and helping where needed at lunch time, taking out meals, prompting and offering assistance to eat if needed.

In the afternoons you would be helping our existing cleaners to keep tables clear of cups and glasses, supporting with washing up and providing cover for the kitchen cleaning in the event of one of the cleaners being off ill or on holiday.

Person specification

It is essential you understand our ethos of promoting independence and working in a person centred way to meet the needs of every service user as an individual

Must be outgoing and confident and be willing to work on a 1-1 basis with survivors or in our groups with a larger number of people

A clear understanding of confidentiality is essential

Must be willing to work as part of a team to maintain our high standards of care ensuring our service users are always treated with dignity and respect

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: 7.55-12.21 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week
