Key Responsibilities

As a Structural Designer at Scruffy Dog, you'll serve as a creative-engineering conduit, responsible for developing detailed structural designs that support our fantastical builds--all while ensuring safety, integrity, and feasibility in every bolt, beam, and bracket.

Transform creative visions into engineered reality

: Collaborate with concept designers, architects, and fabricators to develop innovative structural solutions for non-standard, highly customized environments.

Design with precision

: Produce detailed structural drawings, 3D models, and technical packages using software such as AutoCAD, Rhino, Revit, or SolidWorks.

Materialize the extraordinary

: Work with steel, timber, composites, and unconventional materials to design structures that defy typical constraints.

Solve creatively

: Apply structural knowledge to resolve complex geometries, load challenges, and installation requirements within tight timelines.

Ensure compliance and safety

: Design to UK and international codes, while staying aligned with project requirements and H&S regulations.

Bridge disciplines

: Liaise with engineers, project managers, and fabrication teams to ensure a seamless transition from design to build.

Innovate with purpose

: Push the boundaries of themed entertainment structures through bold ideas grounded in technical excellence.

What You'll Bring

A degree in Structural Engineering, Architectural Technology, or a closely related field. 3-5+ years of experience in structural or technical design (preferably within the entertainment, events, or creative construction sectors). Advanced proficiency in 2D/3D CAD software (AutoCAD, Rhino, Revit, SolidWorks, or similar). Familiarity with structural principles, material behaviors, load paths, and construction methodology. A strong portfolio showcasing a mix of creative and technical design work. Passion for building complex, imaginative structures beyond traditional architectural constraints. Exceptional problem-solving, collaboration, and time management skills.
