Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Structural Engineer with experience in residential construction to join our growing team, working on ad hoc projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and analysing structural systems for residential buildings. You will work closely with architects and contractors to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Design structural systems for new residential buildings, additions, and refurbishments.
Conduct structural analysis and prepare design calculations in compliance with local building codes
Produce and review construction drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, or other drafting/modeling software.
Collaborate with architects and other consultants to coordinate structural solutions with architectural and MEP designs.
Perform site visits to assess existing conditions, inspect ongoing construction, and troubleshoot field issues.
Prepare and stamp engineering drawings and reports (if licensed).
Review submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings during construction administration.
Stay up to date with evolving code requirements and best practices for residential construction.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
2-5 years of experience in residential structural design
Proficiency in structural design software (e.g., RISA, Enercalc, Forte, or similar) and drafting tools (AutoCAD, Revit).
Familiarity with local and national residential building codes.
Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
Ability to manage deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional Engineer (PE) license or EIT working toward licensure.
Knowledge of sustainable building practices and energy-efficient design.
Familiarity with permit submission processes and local AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction).
