Are you passionate about highways and infrastructure? We're seeking an experienced and driven individual to join our Highway and Environment Structures Team at Cormac. This is a career-graded role, with opportunities at both Engineer and Senior Engineer levels depending on your experience and qualifications.
As part of our small but dynamic team you'll play a key role in managing Cornwall's highway and car park structures, inspecting and assessing their condition, and specifying repairs and maintenance. You'll manage budgets, update the data base, mentor junior team members, liaise and provide technical advice with stakeholders like local councils, and the public.
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out inspections, assessments, and maintenance planning for highway structures
Specify and oversee reactive and planned maintenance works
Prepare technical reports, cost estimates, and works instructions
Mentor and support junior team members (Technicians, Inspectors, Graduates, Apprentices)
Manage budgets and update the Structures Asset Management System
Liaise with stakeholders including councils, contractors, and the public

About You
We are looking for candidates who demonstrate the following qualities and qualifications:
Essential Requirements:
Engineer Grade:
Level 4 qualification or 5+ years' relevant experience
Senior Engineer Grade:
Degree (Level 6) in Structural Engineering or 10+ years' experience
A knowledge of highway structure types, materials, construction methods and solutions.
An understanding of structural defects, modes of failure and methods of inspection and testing
Knowledge of NEC3 contracts, health & safety, and financial management
Proficiency in IT and inspection technologies and asset management
Full UK driving licence

CSCS card, NRSWA Supervisor Certificate, CITB H&S Site Manager Certificate
