The role



Reporting to the Deputy Head of Communications - Students & Staff, you will be a key part of our dynamic Communications team. This role is responsible for delivering key communications to the University's 18,000 students. You will create engaging, inclusive and informative content across a wide range of channels and play a central role in advising colleagues across the University on how best to communicate with our diverse student body.

About the team



The Communications team provides essential leadership and advice on both internal and external communications for the entire University. As a part of the Marketing, Recruitment and Engagement Directorate, we are confident and ambitious, working to build the University's profile and make every contact count. We are passionate about ensuring that our communications are heard by our students, staff, and alumni against the backdrop of an incredibly busy digital world.

What will I be doing?



Develop and coordinate key student communication channels, including e-newsletters, digital screens, physical assets and emails.

Create engaging content for social media and other digital platforms as part of broader campaigns.

Provide expert advice to colleagues across the University on student communications best practice.

Coordinate campaigns to deliver key messages on topics like the National Student Survey (NSS) and student experience initiatives.

Liaise closely with the students' union (Brookes Union) to ensure a unified approach to student communications.

Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of our student communications and channels.


What skills do I need?



A degree or equivalent professional experience.

Proven experience in delivering student or internal communications in a large, complex organisation.

Demonstrable experience creating and coordinating engaging content across various channels.

Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to advise and collaborate with a wide range of colleagues.

Strong organisational skills to coordinate multiple campaigns and projects simultaneously.

An understanding of how to measure and evaluate communication campaigns.


About the location



This is an agile working role based primarily at our Headington Campus, with options for homeworking. You will be based in the Buckley Building, which is located in our vibrant campus, one mile from the centre of Oxford. The agile working approach means you will have the flexibility to balance your time between home and the office, with a focus on delivering excellent work wherever you are.
