The Marketing and Communications department is responsible for understanding our audiences, using insight to deliver impactful, stand-out communications campaigns to drive student recruitment, admissions and engage with prospective and current students, staff, and external audiences.

The student engagement communications team plays a central role in delivering a seamless communications experience for every student - whether they are an undergraduate joining straight after college or later in life, or a postgraduate student working alongside their studies.

We're looking for someone who can write for different audiences, a strong critical thinker, with excellent organisational skills, and loves working with people.

Main duties and responsibilities

The Student Engagement Communications Co-ordinator will play a key role in developing communications and content that informs and inspires our students across the student journey and key areas such as including academic and student life. We are looking for someone who relishes understanding our current students' needs and exploring new ways to engage them.

You will support the Student Engagement Communications Manager to develop and deliver weekly communications and campaigns to drive key priorities (careers, student life, financial literacy).

You will contribute to our annual comms plan and develop content for various digital and print platforms. We work across emails, Herts blog, digital screens, social media, University main website (herts.ac.uk) and Ask Herts website (ask.herts.ac.uk), campus graphics, and posters.

You will also take ownership of key channels and projects including our weekly newsletter, digital screens and campus posters and graphics.

Skills and experience required

We are looking for someone who can bring new ideas to how we communicate with our students. You will be a strong communicator with experience in writing for different audiences. You will have a strong standard of marketing and communications experience with the ability to demonstrate marketing principles and communication skills.

You will be able to produce, interpret and write content and have proven digital skills and detailed understanding of social media channels. It will be expected that you have excellent organisational and administrative skills. You must have strong interpersonal skills including a strong track record establishing effective relationships with colleagues, stakeholders and clients.

You will be creative with an outstanding attention to detail and be highly organised and able to prioritise effectively.

Qualifications required

You must hold A-Levels (or equivalent qualification) or a higher qualification or proven work experience.

Please view the job description and person specification for a full list of the duties and essential criteria. Please attach a personal statement showing clearly how your skills and experience match the Person Specification.
