The Student Experience Coach Team is located within the Coaching Service in Student and Campus Life at UWE. Student Experience Coaching is a collaborative process that helps students overcome challenges, set goals and own actions for achieving them.

The Coaching Service brings together Student Experience Coaches, Peer Assisted Learning, Student Career Coach and UWE Cares. The Coaching Service aims to:

grow the ability of our students to engage and succeed in their studies through increased self-efficacy delivered through a coaching approach, peer-on-peer academic and course support, and through extra support for carers, care leavers estranged students and refugees. support students in realising their talents, building on existing skills to maximise degree outcomes, employment opportunities and post-study activities.


The Student Experience Coach Team is seeking to appoint a permanent Student Experience Coach, working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday (negotiable).

You will meet with students either online or in-person, through appointment and out-reach work with a focus on students and programmes within the College of Arts, Technology and Environment. Using a coaching approach (T-GROW model), you will help students create goals and actions and help the student plan how they will meet them. Areas of coaching support in the role will include academic, self-development and wellbeing and self-care.

Alongside one-to-one work, you will also work closely with a school within the college to deliver targeted group coaching sessions to student cohorts. You will reach out to students to offer coaching support where there has been low academic engagement, poor assessment results and where they may be thinking of leaving. You will also work with students who are looking to improve their academic performance.

You will report to the Senior Student Experience Coach. You will work closely with other Student Experience Coaches across the team, other coaching services and other support teams across Student and Campus Life. You will be in regular contact with senior academic colleagues within the school, including Programme Leaders.

About you



You will have experience of coaching or a coaching approach that will help students to find solutions and own their actions, using active listening, powerful questioning and goal setting.

You will have an eye for innovation, collaborating within and beyond the service to help the service meet objectives and key results and improve student performance by positively impacting areas such as non-continuation, non-completion and the awarding gap.

This is a full-time, permanent post, working 37 hours per week.
