Bournemouth and Poole College now have an interesting new opening for a Student Transition Coach to join the team on a full time, permanent basis. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of \xc2\xa321,276 per annum.

About the role:

As the Student Transition Coach, you will work with potential students who need additional support to successfully make the move to College.

Responsibilities as our Student Transition Coach will include:

  • Provide support and guidance through the pre-entry processes to potential students and parents/carers, in order to reduce emotional stress and anxiety
  • Support students progression and transitions through agreeing and implementing a plan of support work with all professionals working with the student
  • Work with staff at feeder schools to identify the students most likely to need additional support with managing the transition to college and agree support plans and visits
  • Offer advice to staff, students, parents and external agencies on the Learning Support team\xe2\x80\x99s services. Develop a good understanding of the curriculum and support programmes in the college has to offer
  • Coordinate transition support for an agreed caseload of students. Monitoring effectiveness whilst providing continued support to the students, and staff, until such time as the students are settled on their programmes
  • Motivate, encourage and support the student to socially engage and integrate within our college community. This may include supporting students in activities as part of the student\xe2\x80\x99s course or through cross-college events.
  • To participate in student induction, college orientation and obtaining accurate course timetables prior to start of term to ensure support is in place for Day 1 plans
  • Develop knowledge and understanding of both the school and college contexts, establishing effective working relationships. Including careers coordinators, Youth Connections and heads of the learning programmes throughout the College
  • Support the planning and delivery of key transition projects.
  • Effectively track progress of transition support and the long term outcomes
As our Student Transition Coach, you\xe2\x80\x99ll ideally have:
  • Level 2 (or equivalent) English and Maths
  • Education/training to level 2 (e.g. GCSE, NVQ2)
  • Previous experience working with people with learning difficulties, disabilities and/or challenging behaviour\xe2\x80\x99s
  • Experience working in a busy environment to manage a caseload, working to key deadlines
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications
  • Awareness or training supporting your knowledge of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
  • Attendance at college events ie open evenings including outside of normal working hours
  • Ability to be able to travel between sites
