The University of Bristol is seeking a Student Visa Compliance Officer to join our dedicated Student Visas team. In this key role, you will apply your expertise in UK immigration legislation to manage compliance risks, analyse student data, and contribute to a high-quality student experience. Working closely with colleagues across the University, you will help shape policy, support preparations for UKVI audits, and ensure the institution continues to meet its Student Sponsor duties.


This is a dynamic and impactful role where your attention to detail, analytical mindset, and ability to interpret complex regulations will directly contribute to the success and integrity of our compliance operations.


What will you be doing?

You will be responsible for monitoring and analysing student data to identify and address compliance risks, making timely and informed decisions that support both institutional obligations and student success. You will provide expert interpretation of regulations on complex immigration matters to staff and students, helping to apply UKVI rules in a clear and practical way. Your work will involve maintaining accurate records and supporting the delivery of Student document checks. You will also contribute to the University's readiness for UKVI audits, including preparing documentation and representing the institution in discussions with auditors. You will work closely with colleagues across schools, faculties and professional services to resolve individual cases and improve institutional processes. You will help develop and maintain internal guidance and training materials, ensuring that staff across the University understand their responsibilities and have the tools they need to meet them.

We are looking for someone with:



A strong understanding of UK immigration legislation and a commitment to delivering an excellent experience for international students. You will be confident in interpreting complex regulations and making assessments against regulatory frameworks to make fair and informed decisions. You will have experience working with large datasets, a meticulous eye for detail, and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving anomalies. You will be a clear and diplomatic communicator, capable of explaining intricate rules to diverse audiences and collaborating effectively across teams. You will be comfortable managing competing priorities, balancing urgent casework with long-term projects and policy development. If you are analytical, proactive, and passionate about continuous improvement in a regulatory environment, we would love to hear from you.
