Barnet and Southgate College are seeking an experienced and dynamic Studio Manager to oversee the development and daily operations of our new state-of-the-art, industry standard TV and Music Production STUDIO facilities. You will be responsible for maintaining new equipment, supporting curriculum with the day to day running of the media courses with occasional master class delivery, managing the development of commercial lettings and relationships, arranging staff training, and overseeing the use of the STUDIO and related workspaces for both our 16-19 education provision, adult provision and commercial activities. This is a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the studio, supporting both educational and professional projects.



This is a Full Time, Permanent role will include evening and weekend work as required.

Key Responsibilities



Core Responsibilities:





1.

Oversee the maintenance and repair of studio equipment, ensuring all equipment is in optimal working condition.


2.

Implement regular checks and servicing schedules for all technical equipment.


3.

Manage the procurement of new equipment and maintain an inventory of all studio assets in collaboration with programme technicians.


4.

Develop funded and commercial programmes in conjunction with your curriculum manager against agreed targets.


5.

Organise in conjunction with the marketing department events, that focus on student and industry engagement that promote and support the Studio facilities.


6.

Manage the negotiation of contracts and agreements with external organisations and clients.


7.

Manage commercial lettings of the studio space, ensuring all bookings are efficiently scheduled and conflicts are minimised.


8.

Develop and maintain strong relationships with commercial clients and partners, including Middlesex University, LBB and local studio providers (Sky, Elstree, Troubadour, North London Studios etc).


9.

Arrange and oversee staff training programs to ensure technical staff are up-to-date with the latest industry standards and practices.


10.

Provide mentorship and guidance to technical staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.


11.

Organise workshops and training sessions for both staff and students on the use of studio equipment and software.


12.

Liaise with curriculum staff to support utilisation of the studio across all curriculum areas.


13.

Manage the use of the studio and related workspaces, ensuring all users adhere to health and safety regulations.


14.

Manage the coordination of the scheduling and allocation of studio space and equipment for both educational and commercial projects.


15.

Work closely with educators and artists to plan and support activities, ensuring resources are available and effectively utilised.


16.

Provide technical support for teaching activities associated with the BFI Skills Cluster and other educational programs.


17.

Advise and assist students and staff with their projects, offering expertise in sound production, recording, filming and editing.


18.

Facilitate group workshops and provide individual support to enhance students' technical skills.


19.

Support the design and delivery of curriculum content.


20.

To undertake administrative duties as required by the Centre.


21.

To undertake risk assessments as required.


22.

To support the College in the development of appropriate and safe work placement opportunities for the learners.


23.

Participate actively and flexibly in a range of College-wide activities, such as duty rotas, enrolment and marketing events and staff and student activities.


24.

Participate in training and team development activities, to develop skills and knowledge.


25.

Be familiar with Safeguarding, Prevent and Child Protection requirements as outlined in the Child Protection Policy and comply with its requirements to safeguard and protect the welfare of children and vulnerable adults.


31.

Undertake such additional duties or projects as the CEO and Principal or line manager may determine from time to time, after consultation with the post holder.
