The Office of Voluntary Subwarden - William Morris x 2
A Sub-Warden vacancy has arisen in William Morris Hall- a friendly hall with an excellent hall spirit. Applications for this exciting opportunity are invited from doctoral researchers only - ideally with a substantial amount of time remaining on their research programme.
Duties:
Subwardens assist the Warden, Julian MacKenzie, in the day to day running of the hall. This will involve pastoral, disciplinary and administrative duties as well as being involved in all social aspects of hall life. The successful applicants will be part of a team which provides out-of-hours emergency cover in a hall of 508 students, and which helps to ensure the smooth running of the hall.
Personal Attributes:
Candidates must display a high level of personal organisational ability, good administrative ability, leadership qualities, be an excellent team player and be confident in dealing with challenging situations. Subwardens are expected to demonstrate a commitment to the community spirit of the Hall, spending roughly 14 hours of work towards the role on a weekly basis.
Accommodation and Catering Arrangements:
Free accommodation is available throughout the year. The accommodation available for Subwardens is only suitable for a single person. William Morris is self-catered; however, some meals are provided during term time through the diners+ scheme.

You will be welcome to meet the Warden Team on 22nd August at the William Morris at 6-7pm. If you would like to attend.
The successful applicant must be available to attend Subwarden training sessions as required (e.g. First Aid Training, Mental Health First Aid Training) this will be held on 15th, 16th and 17th September 2025.
The successful applicant will be required to take a day away from their studies on
Wednesday 24th September 2025
to assist the Warden's Team during First Years Arrivals Day in hall.

Interviews will take place w/c 8th September 2025. The successful candidate should be ready to start their duties in the week commencing 15th September 2025 or earlier.
