Summer Art Tutor (craft And Making)

Job Description

We are looking for a creative, practical and enthusiastic Craft & Making Tutor to deliver hands-on, children and young people -friendly craft sessions . You will deliver fun, structured sessions as part of our Summer School, running throughout August 2025.

This is a fixed-term, temporary role for 4 weeks ideal for artists, crafters, makers, educators, or creative facilitators who enjoy working with children and young people. The sessions will explore all forms of cradting and making, including but not limited to paper crafts, clay making, collage, 3D modelling, upcycling, and fun creative challenges using a variety of materials.

You will inspire children aged 6-16 to express themselves, build confidence, and develop new creative skills in a safe, welcoming space.

Key Responsibilities



- Plan and deliver engaging cradt and making sessions, 2 days each week (approx. 10 hours/week)

- Plan safe, age-appropriate projects using diverse materials (paper, clay, cardboard, fabric, recycled goods, etc.)

- Encourage exploration, experimentation, and creative thinking

- Support participants in completing small group or individual craft pieces

- Promote teamwork, confidence and self-expression through making

- Set up and tidy up sessions, ensuring all materials are safe and accessible

- Work closely with the wider summer club team to support a positive, inclusive environment

-Supervise use of materials and ensure safe working practices

Requirements



-Experience leading craft or creative making activities with children or young people

- Practical skills in a range of crafting techniques (paper, textiles, mixed media, etc.)

- Friendly, creative and enthusiastic personality

- Strong group management and communication skills

- Must be available 2 days in a week, throughout August

- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one before start date) - - Safeguarding awareness and commitment to child safety

Desirable (but not essential)



- Background in art education, community arts, or creative youth work - Ability to incorporate cultural, environmental or thematic content into workshops

- Experience working with children or young people in educational or community settings

Project Dates



- August 2025, with an opportunity for a retainer in Summer 2025 and 2027.

- Sessions will take place between 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM

- Approx. 10 hours of delivery per week, plus brief prep and setup time

Job Types: Part-time, Zero hours contract
Contract length: 1 month

Pay: 13.00 per hour
