Summer Art Tutor (painting And Drawing)

Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and inspiring Art Tutor with a passion for drawing, painting, and working creatively with children and young people. You will deliver fun, structured visual arts sessions as part of our Summer School, running throughout August 2025. This is a fixed-term, temporary role for 4 weeks ideal for community artists, illustrators, educators, or facilitators who want to make a creative impact over the summer. You will lead children (ages 6-16) through imaginative projects that build confidence and explore artistic expression.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan and deliver engaging art workshops, 2 days each week (approx. 10 hours/week) - Teach age-appropriate techniques in drawing, painting, mixed media, and visual expression - Help children develop and complete small-scale projects across multiple sessions - Facilitate supportive, inclusive and creative learning environment - Collaborate with support staff and other tutors to deliver a high-quality experience - Set up and pack down equipment, with care and supervision

-Supervise use of materials and ensure safe working practices

Requirements

- A strong experience and/or background in visual arts, fine art, or illustration - Friendly, patient, and creative approach to engagement

- Must be available 2 days in a week, throughout August

- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one before start date) - - Safeguarding awareness and commitment to child safety

Desirable (but not essential)



- Background in art education, community arts, or creative youth work - Ability to incorporate cultural, environmental or thematic content into workshops

- Experience working with children or young people in educational or community settings

Project Dates



- August 2025, with an opportunity for a retainer in Summer 2025 and 2027.

- Sessions will take place between 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM

- Approx. 10 hours of delivery per week, plus brief prep and setup time

Job Types: Part-time, Zero hours contract
Contract length: 1 month

Pay: 13.00 per hour
